Each year, we look forward to exhibiting at the British Education Training and Technology (Bett) show in London. It’s our first show of the year and really set us up a for a fun, energetic, and curious year! Bett is a look at new digital trends and what existing trends continue to be important in the market. The show evolves and grows from year to year and new technologies and resources are discovered, but one thing remains the same—educators want content that is engaging, fun and relevant to students.
That’s the mission of our digital reading platform Highlights Library, which was one of our featured products at the show this year coming off the heels of a major platform update in 2019. Highlights Library was created to engage kids with a fun reading setting that can go wherever their busy lives may take them. For educators, it includes easy-to-use resources like data collection of reading patterns and quiz scores. With over 2,500 spanning across 10 categories, some with a social-emotional learning component, Highlights Library offers endless opportunities for this technology to be used in unique ways.
At the conference, we had the opportunity for attendees to try out Highlights Library for themselves, as well as get a look at our brand new digital leveled readers collections, Voices Leveled Library.
Will Gordon, Senior Digital Territory Specialist, said, “Technology is the means through which learning is delivered, and sometimes is the thing being learned, but really the focus is on what and how we teach kids, principles that seem to stand the test of time. The social and emotional development of kids continues to be a priority, which is why I think Highlights' resources continue to be relevant and interesting for distributors, partners and schools.”
Many of our partners attended the show, and it was great to celebrate our past successes and look ahead to an exciting 2020 with our partners and publishing friends! Bett is a great time to bring new thoughts to the discussion on digital trends and look forward to the year ahead for digital education.
